GETTING INVOLVED - LEADING BY EXAMPLE
SCHOOL COMMUNITY
Getting involved with campus life through clubs and electives has given me a chance to develop new friendships, explore my interests, and be an active member of the school community.
Agmen Christi
Only a small percentage of Jesuit’s students are invited to participate in Agmen Christi, a service club at Jesuit described by Catholic Magazine as “a force for good in Tampa Bay”. Each Sunday my brothers and I commit the majority of our day, first to worship and then to service. Through Agmen I have made stronger connections with my classmates, the faculty and clergy and most importantly, with the people in our community that need and deserve our help and support most.
Key Club
Key Club is a leadership, fellowship, and service organization. Through Key Club I have had an opportunity to find other ways to provide service to the community beyond my Agmen Christi commitments.
Outdoorsman Club
Jesuit’s outdoorsman club has been an opportunity for me to connect with other students who share my passion for the outdoors and spend more time outdoors fishing, diving and exploring
MENTORSHIP
As an incoming freshman I experienced kindness and guidance from others that helped me navigate a new school and new opportunities. Starting in Sophomore year I wanted to do the same for my peers and have found numerous ways to lead and mentor others.
Jesuit Big Brothers
As a big brother, I have been paired up with an incoming freshman each of the last three years. As a big brother I provide a resource to underclassmen to help them navigate campus, find resources, and demonstrate what it means to be a scholar athlete at Jesuit
National Honor Society Tutoring
I have volunteered to assist other students in our Campus National Honor Society Tutoring Center where I meet with other students before or after the school day to help them with their coursework in foreign language, mathematics, and science.
Jesuit Summer Soccer Camps
Each summer I have served as a student coach at these camps. This has given me a chance to share my passion for the game of soccer and pass along the skills I have learned from others. Since so many of the camp attendees are prospective students I also get a chance to meet some of the incoming freshman class each year and give them a head start on what it means to be a Tiger.
Florida Soccer School
As a counselor for the week long residency camp at the Florida Soccer School, I had a chance to form deeper connections with young athletes, share my skills and knowledge of the game and help these motivated youth players prepare for high level competition. In this role, I also had the opportunity to model the work ethic, attitude and behaviors required for elite level competition.
DISCIPLESHIP
Discipleship is an ongoing process with the goal of following the example of Christ through study, devoted living, and personal relationships.
Peer Ministry
I chose to get involved with Peer Ministry because it gives me the opportunity to continue the discipleship process, to assist others who also desire a more faithful lifestyle, and for those unsure of their faith, a sounding board and ear for meaningful talk with a peer.
As The Vice President of Peer Ministry Retreats, I work directly with the other Student Executives of Peer Ministry and the Assistant Principal for Mission to develop content, lead, and promote aspects of our student retreats, including summer pilgrimages and missions across the Americas and Europe
Altar Service
Altar service is my opportunity to provide help to the priest celebrating the liturgy at our school masses and to set an example for the student body in reverent worship. I have been an altar service for student masses since my Freshman year.
Pilgrimage
For each of the last three summers I have ventured abroad with some of my classmates to explore the world, discover God in new places and better understand different cultures and people. My Pilgrimages have led me to over 20 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe and the Caribbean. These experiences have had a lasting impact on me and have fueled my desire to continue to explore my faith and the world.
